Application guidelines

The Evered House is committed to supporting artists who have served in the US military or their partners or spouses, as well as those who have served in conflict zones, such as war reporters, combat photographers, etc.  We also invite the application of first responders, healthcare workers, and frontline workers who have served during the COVID-19 pandemic.

We are happy to consider novelists, short story writers, journalists, playwrights, television writers, screenwriters, performing artists, fine artists, musicians, and other practitioners that could benefit from our residency.

Currently, we are working on establishing the new Evered House residency in Port Haywood, Virginia. We hope for a Fall 2025 opening. In the meantime, if you have any questions about future residencies please send all inquiries to info@everedhouse.org

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

Letter of Intent/ Artist Statement: A 500-word statement describing what you intend to accomplish during your residency.  We are interested in how having an Evered House residency will benefit your practice although we are aware that projects change and evolve.  

​

CV or Resume that details your artistic as well as military related career, education, exhibitions, residencies, awards, etc.

 

Work Samples:

  • Writers: 20 page sample of your work. 

  • Fine Artists: Digital portfolio in pdf form or a url link to your online portfolio

  • Musicians: Sound files. 

  • Performing Artists: please send a reel of your current work.
